Description

The Master's degree programme in Web Engineering provides a systematic and quantifiable approach to the design, implementation, and operation of web-based solutions. It not only teaches the necessary knowledge on technologies for web-based and data-centred applications but also enables graduates to deal with fast-moving technology cycles in the context of life-long learning.

The main focus of the Master's degree programme in Web Engineering is based on the following subjects:

The simulation game provides a start-up experience with a dedicated focus on current industry trends/technologies, e.g. in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT) / Web of Things (WoT), BlockChain / DLT, smart data, cloud systems of leading commercial cloud providers, API development, applying AI, Developing/Prompting with ChatGPT and other AI-services – or in addressing challenges provided by German and European companies.

Course organisation

The Master's programme in Web Engineering is structured into four semesters. Lectures can be selected from the following learning modules:
1. Key Aspect Modules: 25 CP (credit points)
2. Deepening Modules: 20 CP
3. Tutorial Module: 7 CP
4. Key Competences Module: 8 CP
5. Simulation Game Module (a.k.a. Start-up Experience): 30 CP
6. Master's Thesis Module: 30 CP

Semester contribution

All students have to pay a semester contribution of approx. 330 EUR. This fee also covers the semester ticket, which permits you to use buses and trams in Chemnitz as well as regional trains throughout Germany during the semester. International students will receive the bank account details after admission, with which they can transfer the semester contribution. However, the fee can also be paid after arrival in Chemnitz (by German bank card or transfer).

Applicants from countries with English as official/educational or native language are not required to submit proof of English language proficiency within their application.

GERMAN

Courses to obtain the required level of German language (A2 by the end of the third semester) are included in the curriculum for non-native speakers. Students providing a certificate of A2 level (CEFR) may choose advanced language courses or subject studies.
