Description
Geodesy is a broad engineering discipline that is strongly focused on mathematics and natural sciences. It includes collecting, modelling, and processing measurement data in a spatial context. Analysing, structuring, and visualising this geodata provides the foundation for interpreting and designing living spaces. The broad spectrum of current geodetic research includes microscopic applications in medicine, automobile navigation and environmental monitoring, planning space missions, and exploring and mapping foreign planets.
In the English-language Master’s programme in Geodesy and Geoinformation Science, you will learn to develop and apply methods of engineering measurement, satellite geodesy, planet and Earth system research, computer vision, and 3D/4D modelling of the real world using geographic information systems.
The programme focuses on the following:
- Theory of acquisition, analysis, fusion, compression, and visualisation of spatially referenced data of the newest and highest quality
- Geographical information systems (GIS), geodatabase systems, data modelling, collection of geodatabases
- Earth system and planetary research as well as high-precision navigation and positioning
- Geodetic sensor technology, data analysis, object motion, and deformation analysis
- Digital image processing, automatic image analysis, and remote sensing
- Geodetic reference systems, international reference frames
- Gravity field analysis, satellite orbit determination and calculation

Language requirements
Applicants who do not fulfil one of the following criterion must pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language:
- Native language is English
- English-language qualification for admission to higher education
- Bachelor's degree from a programme in which the language of instruction was English
- Attended a German school and passed the "Abitur", which is the secondary school examination
One of the following language tests have to be passed if the previous criteria are not fulfilled:
- TOEFL: at least 213 points (CBT) or 79 points (iBT) or 550 points (PBT)
- Academic IELTS: 6.0

About us
Technische Universität Berlin
Technische Universität Berlin looks back on a long and distinguished tradition of teaching and research. In 1799, its most important predecessor, the Building Academy, was founded. Eighty years later, the merger of the Building Academy and the Vocational Academy led to the founding of the Royal Technical College of Berlin. In 1946 the university was re-established as the "Technische Universität Berlin", or TU Berlin. The eight faculties of the university offer 50 courses of study in the fields of engineering and natural sciences, economics and business, planning sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
Around 34,000 students are enrolled at the TU Berlin. More than 30% of the students are women and 20% are foreign citizens. Students are instructed by 360 professors and an academic staff of 1,500. TU Berlin employs a total of 2,500 people in administration, workshops, and laboratories, making it the largest university of technology in Germany.
The main campus of the TU Berlin is located near the railway station "Berlin Zoologischer Garten" and the well-known thoroughfare, Kurfürstendamm. A number of other university buildings are located centrally in the districts of Tiergarten and Charlottenburg.
More information about the university can be found at http://www.tu-berlin.de.
Location
