Further details

Course organisation

The Applied Geoscience Master's programme is appropriate for those students with strongly focused research interests. The coursework for students is typically centred around their field of specialisation. The first semester includes an introduction to every field of specialisation and an additional course on scientific communication. Key aspects of the second semester are experimental laboratory and field studies, while the third semester offers advanced courses. Every student completes an in-depth research project and writes a thesis summarising that project. Students have a Master's thesis defence at the end of their programme.

A minimum score of 305 from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required. You have to submit a one-page personal statement outlining your background, research interests (including possible faculty research advisers), goals, and reasons for applying to our graduate programme.

Language requirements

Applicants must provide proof of sufficient English proficiency. Those students whose native language is not English must submit a TOEFL score with a minimum requirement of 90 or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score with a minimum requirement of 6.5.
