Information Technology (MEng) SRH University

Wireless communications, cellular TV phone technology, satellite technology, robotics, network technology – these are modern applications of information technology. Are you interested? Then get ready to learn how to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information.
The Master's programme in Information Technology is a full-time study course lasting three semesters (18 months). Students learn in small working groups. The transfer of theoretical knowledge is accomplished within practice-oriented projects. Your studies are carried out in a highly independent manner and organised by yourself. Close contact with professors and lecturers makes it possible to settle questions quickly.

The focus subjects of this degree programme are within the following fields:

• Wireless communications
• Cellular TV phone technology
• Satellite technology (We are building our own satellite according to the CubeSat standard.)
• Robotics (especially in navigation)
• Network technology

Based on the main focus on implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware, we encourage you to take part and to employ your knowledge in our current projects.

Mode of study: We believe that sustainable learning is only possible if there is enough space for experimentation, games and critical thinking. That is why we have completely restructured the classical course of studies. Read more about our CORE Principle.

Third semester: Master's thesis

Teaching and learning at SRH is inspired by our CORE principle, which stands for competence-oriented research and education and is defined by a student-centred approach to learning and teaching. Study programmes are organised in five-week blocks of applied study, during which you get to focus intensively on real-world business or research challenges while working in a small group.

Successfully completed Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, Electronics, or similar

English language proficiency IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 80 / Duolingo Certificate 120 / PTE Academics 58 or a comparable test

We may also personally interview applicants in order to test their English skills. If applicants have studied completely in English in their previous studies, we may waive the required test.

There is a special scholarship available. The "Deutschlandstipendium" is a special scholarship programme supported by the German government and private companies. Find other scholarships that are relevant to your application here.

Working as a non-EU citizen: In possession of a valid German residence permit for study purposes, you are allowed to work for up to 120 full days (full day = eight hours per day) or 240 half days (half day = four hours) during the calendar year. However, freelance work is not permitted. Internships that are mandatory for the successful completion of your studies at SRH do not count towards the above-named 120 full days.

Employment that is considered “student part-time work” ("studentische Nebentätigkeit", e.g. employment as a student worker at a university or in a university-related organisation or "Werkstudent" activities at companies that are related to your studies) can be done without any time restrictions.

Here you will find courses on how to prepare for job applications and interviews, covering techniques such as body language and voice training, as well as continued education offerings such as our business skills certificate.
