Description

The Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Polymer Engineering aims to train engineers who can successfully bring sustainable, practical and innovative plastic and rubber products to the market along the entire process chain, from materials, through construction and design, to processing and production and finally recycling.

If you don't just want to cram theory, but you also want to get to know the practical side of things, the Applied Polymer Engineering programme at THWS is just the thing for you. The seven semesters are interspersed with numerous internships in state-of-the-art laboratories, so that the content you learn is applied directly and as part of a team. This involves not only classic and modern processing methods, but also many other innovative topics such as 3D printing of components, lightweight and stable fibre-reinforced plastics, computer-aided development, modern analysis methods or methods that make plastic surfaces visually elegant and durable.

After the basic studies, you will spend the fifth semester, the so-called internship module, working externally in a company or institute of your choice. During this semester, you will experience how knowledge is applied in practice and at the same time familiarise yourself with everyday industrial life. The practical semester is also a good option if you would like to gain experience abroad. We will be happy to support you in your search for a suitable company.

Together with the completion of a Bachelor's thesis at the end of the degree programme, this creates a multifaceted mix of knowledge, scientific creativity and practical experience, which keeps the degree programme lively and makes graduates so sought-after in industry.

This is why many companies offer the option of a dual study programme in cooperation with the THWS. If you wish, you can finance your studies and gain even more practical insights.
