Description

When Rudolf Diesel himself was a student of engineering, he developed the first functional diesel engine based on the theoretical findings of his studies.

Even today, mechanical engineering is still one of the most important branches of engineering. Whether it's space travel or the development of vaccines, machines enable us to take on economic and social challenges.

As a mechanical engineer, you will develop products and systems that will change your world and ours in the long term. You will use technical, analytical and creative skills and have the freedom to specialise in exactly what you enjoy most – both during your studies and afterwards.

Our Bachelor's degree programme in International Mechanical Engineering is aimed at technically-oriented international students who are interested in studying classical mechanical engineering in English in Germany.

It is completed over seven semesters and is characterised by a high degree of practical relevance. Many modules offer practical exercises through exciting "hands on" projects in our modern laboratories.

Why study International Mechanical Engineering at OTH Regensburg:

  • Decades of experience in teaching and research in the field of mechanical engineering
  • Close to practice: Our professors have several years of professional experience, are well networked and know the requirements of companies. During the practical semester, our students can gain their own practical experience and make contacts.
  • Top rankings in the CHE ranking for Mechanical Engineering: OTH Regensburg is Bavaria's best university for mechanical engineering.
  • Learning in the lab – scientific work from the ground up: Our students are closely involved in laboratory activities as part of project work, internships and final theses. All laboratories and facilities are state of the art.
  • Studying in Regensburg: Vibrant student life, a joint campus for all higher education institutions, excellent quality of life in a world heritage city with over 30,000 students

Study objective

Our goal is to educate and support students to become experts in mechanical engineering with practical experience gained from both within our labs and during their industrial placement.

With a degree in International Mechanical Engineering, you will be able to:

  • effectively apply and develop the acquired theoretical and practical competence in a wide range of areas and industries
  • adapt to the frequently changing requirements of the market and technology, develop new solutions and independently design lifelong learning processes
  • successfully work in an international and particularly in a national German environment
  • confidently take on responsibility in a team

Additional support

Accommodation

Regensburg is a lively university city with over 30,000 students. As a result, the housing market is very tight. The search for a room is the students' own responsibility! It is recommended to start the search as early as possible, as many rooms are already assigned early!

On the OTH website, you will find useful information about accommodation.
