About us

Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts

Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts is diverse, informal, and people-centred, offering holistic education, creativity, and individual support. Across four locations (Coburg, Kronach, Lichtenfels, Bamberg), our faculties and continuing education programmes address critical societal topics like health, climate change, artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and future design. Coburg University also holds doctoral awarding rights in research-intensive areas.

We foster creativity, innovation, and individual growth through close personal interactions and a family-friendly environment. Diversity — in disciplines, teaching methods, research perspectives, personal backgrounds, and transfer pathways — is central to our approach.

Committed to participation, equality, tolerance, and sustainability, we emphasise family compatibility and serve as an innovation hub and regional catalyst. Excellence in research, critical thinking, and inclusive scientific discourse define our ethos.

Location

Coburg is a medium-sized city with around 42,000 inhabitants. It lies in the northern part of the culturally rich state of Bavaria and is located more or less in the middle of Germany. The city was established in the Middle Ages and has a historic town centre and a medieval castle. At the same time, it offers all the comforts of a modern city, including many interesting cultural and sports events. It also offers an excellent infrastructure, such as train connections with Deutsche Bahn to the major cities of Munich and Berlin, and thus to international airports.
