Mechatronics Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that combines mechanical, electrical, computer, and control engineering to design and create smart systems and products. The key foundational subjects in this field include mathematics, electronics, computer science, mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineering. Our English-taught Mechatronics Engineering curriculum has been developed in collaboration with industry to ensure that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be ready to excel in modern industry.

• You have access to lab facilities, including equipment, e.g. actuators/sensors, system dynamics, CAD/CAM, production engineering, robotics, and medical technology and optical technologies. This helps you gain deep familiarity with industrial automation and its real-world applications.

Beginning of studies: beginning of September 2026
From 2026 on, the course will be offered in presence only. From 2027 on, the programme start will always be the summer semester.

1,500 EUR per semester for non-EU students

• Semesters one through four: In the first four semesters, students study basic and foundation modules in engineering as well as language.
• Semester five: This is a compulsory practical semester, during which students complete internships in industrial companies either locally or throughout Germany, where they work independently on programme-related projects.
• Semester six: In the sixth semester, students deepen their knowledge with specialised elective modules having a direct relevance to modern-day industry. This semester also involves participation in a project under the guidance of the professors.
• Semester seven: In the final semester, students need to work on the final Bachelor's thesis, which is also mostly done in cooperation with industry. In addition, students also have the possibility to choose specialised modules to broaden their knowledge.

Native German speakers will have technical English modules, whereas international students (non-native speakers) will have German language modules in the first two semesters.

The fifth semester is a practical semester in a company.

In order to finance your living expenses during your studies, you can look for a student job. However, please note that your focus should always be on your studies.

Students from non-EU countries may work 120 full days or 240 half days per year. If you work as a student assistant at a university or a company, the number of days may be higher.

Students from EU countries: There are no restrictions.
