Description
This research and professionally-oriented Master’s programme studies the use of physical activity in the areas of prevention and rehabilitation. Clinical Exercise Science differentiates between clinical applications for patients and the uses of physical activity in professional and popular sports.
During the Master’s and doctoral programme in Clinical Exercise Science, you will be studying the effects of physical activity in the prevention and rehabilitation of illnesses. The focus is on medical training therapy (clinical applications) and high performance physiology (usage in health, popular, and professional sports).
Besides these theoretical, methodological, and experimental fundamentals, the programme also includes professionally-oriented segments. These are offered in cooperation with hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, and outpatient rehabilitation centres. Other opportunities include the medical supervision of athletes at Olympic training facilities and tutoring and mentoring work.
With the demands of a professional work environment in mind, you will gain crucial skills for pursuing managerial and scholarly professions alike. The goal of the Master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Science is an interdisciplinary, scientific, and career-oriented cooperation with different professions in the health sciences.
The goal of a doctorate in Clinical Exercise Science is to prepare you for a career in research and teaching.

Accommodation
There are several student dormitories in Potsdam. These are administered exclusively by Brandenburg's Association for Student Affairs ("Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg"). You can apply for a room in one of these dormitories if you are under the age of 30. If you are a Master's student, you can only apply if the degree at the University of Potsdam is your first Master's programme. Additionally, there are also a few private dormitories in Potsdam, to which these conditions do not apply. However, many students prefer to find an apartment in Potsdam or Berlin, which they often share with fellow students. The housing market is very tight, so please start looking for an accommodation as early as possible.
For information on how to register for a dorm room or find accommodation elsewhere, please click here.
