Description
The programme is consecutive and builds upon a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics at TU Ilmenau (Technische Universität Ilmenau), which is a multidisciplinary engineering programme grounded in the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and information technology.
The integrated bi-national Master's degree programme encompasses the wide range of technical skills required by industry and offers considerable flexibility in subject selection. It offers research-oriented study formats with close ties to industry and business. The degree programme imparts comprehensive fundamentals and significant research and development findings in the field of mechatronics, enabling students to carry out independent scientific work. Graduates are presented with opportunities for employment in industry or research and teaching roles in the field of mechatronics and related areas in both Germany and France.

Course organisation
The integrated structure of the degree programme, with mutual recognition of study and examination achievements, alongside integrated language training, facilitates the acquisition of not only specialist and language skills but also intercultural skills.
For students of TU Ilmenau:
In the first semester, you will study at TU Ilmenau.
The part of the programme jointly conducted by the partners begins with the second semester at ENSMM. Students then study in France until the end of the third semester. The study regulations for the Master of Mechatronics at TU Ilmenau govern the subjects to be taken at ENSMM.
The Master's thesis, which is due in the fifth semester, is to be written either at TU Ilmenau or at ENSMM. After successfully completing all the required coursework, students will be awarded the Master of Science and Diplôme d'Ingénieur degrees.
Students from Besançon will study according to the attached plan.

Academic admission requirements
Admission to the double-degree programme requires a successfully completed Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics and enrolment in a Master's programme at TU Ilmenau.
Applications for the double-degree programme should be submitted to the responsible examination board with a letter of motivation. Participants in the double-degree programme will be selected and admitted by a committee consisting of representatives from both universities. In cases where there are several applicants, the grade point average, foreign language skills, and level of preparation will be decisive factors.
Language requirements
For admission to the programme, English and German language skills at a B2 level are required, as well as French language proficiency at an A2 level.
A French language certificate at a B2 level is required to start the study abroad phase.

Various student dormitories are available on campus. Rent for the residences ranges from 220 EUR – 412 EUR per room per month, depending on the type of accommodation. Advance registration is required via the Studierendenwerk Thüringen administrative office.
