The three-semester (90 ECTS), full-time English-taught programme provides you with an in-depth understanding of the principles and practices of international finance and economics. It offers both practical and international experience and prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities, e.g. in the global financial industry.

The accredited Master's programme is tailored for graduates wishing to obtain a strong specialisation in International Finance and Economics.

The Master's in International Finance and Economics consists of seven mandatory modules, five elective modules, and the Master's thesis.

A specialisation in one of the fields - finance or economics - is possible by selecting respective elective modules. A student can, for instance, choose anywhere from 6 to a maximum of 24 ECTS in finance electives in addition to the compulsory modules. The same is possible for a specialisation in economics. Students also have the chance to spend one semester abroad or earn a double degree.

Double degree options:

We offer a double degree opportunity with Nord University (Norway). Students of the Ohm's Master's in International Finance and Economics (M-IFE) can earn an additional Master of Business degree with a major in Finance and Investments (MSc, 120 ECTS), awarded by Nord University in Norway, within two years.

We are committed to an academic yet practice-oriented approach. Our experienced professors have an extensive academic and strong practical background in finance/economics. We are all working together to deliver a professional and internationally-oriented education, which enables students to cope with a vast, continuously changing global environment.

Lectures tend to be in a participative lecture style with a strong involvement of students. Classes frequently incorporate case analyses and group discussions. There will also be joint work sessions and opportunities for supervised project work, field investigations and company visits as well as individual research. Small classes allow for close personal contacts.

Furthermore, students may broaden their horizons by spending a semester at one of our 80+ partner universities, by participating in our double degree programmes or by doing internships abroad.

We expect applicants to have relevant practical experience (at least six months) or a relevant internship (at least 20 weeks).

In case an applicant has not yet worked in the field of economics or finance, an internship of 20 weeks will be part of the Master's programme.

No tuition fees

A student services fee, which is currently 72 EUR, must be paid each semester.

Depending on where you live, around 1,000 EUR per month (including rent, insurance, food, books, leisure activities, etc.)

• An above-average first "Diplom" or Bachelor's degree from a completed business or economics programme (focus on finance/economics)
• Proof of C1 proficiency in English (see below)
• German level A1
• Relevant practical experience in finance/economics

Students can, for instance, have a "450 EUR job" or be employed as a working student in one of the companies in the Nuremberg region. It is also possible to work as a student assistant at our university. However, students should make sure that they have enough time to study.

Students can apply for accommodation in student halls of residence, which are close to the university and well-equipped. A limited number of apartments are reserved for our MIFE students each semester – please apply as early as possible for our Master's programme in order to be considered for the housing offer.
Prices for a private apartment are around 200 to 500 EUR per month.

There will be a welcome day for all new Master's students that will include a welcome from our dean, a library introduction, a campus tour, speed networking and a joint lunch.

During a separate orientation session, MIFE students will get to know their fellow students and the academic head of the programme as well as receive important course information. Students from higher semesters (buddies) will assist new students in setting up the IT systems or preparing for the semester ahead.

The relatively small number of new students each semester allows for close relationships between students, counselling staff, and professors. The International Business Department is happy to answer any questions from students. A special emphasis is placed on the integration of students from abroad. Furthermore, our International Office organises a wide range of intercultural activities each semester, including excursions or evening get-togethers.

Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm (the Ohm) offers a unique combination of theoretical and practical training. Students will benefit from our extensive company network.
