The first semester is entirely conducted in English (100%). In the International Marketing specialisation, all modules are offered in English (100%). In the Digital Marketing specialisation, the majority of the courses are delivered in German (80%).

Description

The Master of Science in Digital and International Marketing at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) prepares students for leadership roles in a digitally connected and globalised world. This full-time, three-semester programme combines advanced knowledge in international marketing and digital strategy with strong skills in strategic marketing and management.

Teaching takes place in small, interactive groups, allowing close collaboration with experienced academic staff and direct application of knowledge to real-world business projects.

Students can specialise in either Digital Marketing – focusing on topics such as digital brand management, data-driven marketing, and e-commerce – or International Marketing, with emphasis on cross-cultural consumer behaviour, international sales management, and intercultural leadership.

The international environment, with English as the language of instruction, fosters strong intercultural skills and global thinking – essential for careers in today's business world.

The Master's programme has a standard duration of three semesters for applicants holding a Bachelor's degree with 210 credit points. An additional fourth semester is intended for students who have completed a Bachelor's degree with 180 credit points - for pursuing an internship, studying additional modules or one semester abroad.

Please note: International credit points do not necessarily correspond to German credit points. The grades and credit points converted by uni-assist are used for the application.

Course organisation

The Master's programme is organised over three to four semesters and combines lectures, seminars, and project-based learning formats.

First semester: Students gain a strong foundation through the following core modules:

  • Digital Marketing
  • International Marketing
  • Statistics for Consumer & User Research

  • Strategic Management

Second semester: Students select a specialisation track:

  • Digital Marketing or
  • International Marketing (entirely taught in English)

The Digital Marketing track covers areas such as:

  • Digital Brand Management & Communication

The International Marketing track focuses on:

Third semester (optional): Students may complete an internship, study abroad, or attend additional elective modules, especially if entering the programme with a 180-credit Bachelor's degree.

Third/fourth semester: The programme concludes with the Master’s Thesis and Thesis Seminar, where students work independently on a research project.

Description of other international elements

Students have the opportunity to complete a semester abroad, with the possibility of transferring credits for courses taken at the partner institution. Additionally, an international internship can be undertaken to gain valuable professional experience. Furthermore, there is the option to pursue a double degree, which can be combined with the Master's thesis.

Semester contribution

The semester contribution amounts to approx. 335 EUR per semester. This gives students access to free regional public transportation. It also includes certain discounts such as for the following: university cafeterias, a local outdoor pool, city theatre and a bike rental system. Possible costs of living per month:

  • Rent (fully furnished room in a student hall of residence or a private shared flat): approx. 300 EUR to 400 EUR per month, a one-time deposit for your room is approx. 250 EUR
  • Semester contribution fee per semester (including free public transport): approx. 315 EUR
  • Health insurance: 90 EUR to 125 EUR
  • Groceries: approx. 170 EUR

Academic admission requirements

  • First university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) with at least 2.3 overall grade and 210 ECTS credits in business administration or a related field (minimum 50% business content)
  • Applicants with 180 ECTS must make up 30 ECTS through a practical phase, study abroad, or additional coursework.
  • At least 5 ECTS in mathematics or statistics

Language requirements

English language skills on B2 level
TOEFL 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, iBT 79 or IELTS (min. 5.5.) or Cambridge first Certificate (Grade A) is required.

German language skills on B1 level
For foreign applicants, sufficient German language skills (a minimum of 260 hours of course work) are compulsory and an entry requirement.

In addition to their studies, students may take on a working student position. During the lecture period, work is limited to 20 hours per week. During semester breaks, it may be increased to up to 40 hours per week.
