Further details

Course organisation

The programme in Management & Sustainable Accounting and Finance contains six core modules, three management studies seminars, three complementary seminars and three elective modules. At the end, you will write your Master's dissertation.

Core modules

In the first semester, you will learn qualitative research methods. In addition, you will be introduced to financial and non-financial company reporting, sustainable corporate finance and sustainable management accounting.

In the second semester, you will explore quantitative research methods and complete a module on sustainable corporate governance & auditing and a module on business valuation. An elective allows you either to take a more in-depth look at your subject in practice or to attend classes from another Master's programme.

In the third semester, you will apply the specialist and methodological skills you have learned to conduct a research project. Working in a small group, you will produce a quantitative empirical seminar paper.

Alongside compulsory modules on start-up and behavioural corporate finance, two electives allow you to either further consolidate your accounting and finance expertise or to explore aspects of other Master's programmes at Leuphana University Lüneburg.

Management Studies

Management Studies is an opportunity to expand and improve your management and entrepreneurship skills and apply those skills in the current context of constantly changing structures. The first semester uses a range of tools including case studies to illustrate "Organisation, Strategy & Innovation", while the second semester explores "Digitalisation" and the issues surrounding it from different disciplinary perspectives. In the third semester, you will develop specific business ideas for companies and partners in an "Entrepreneurship Project".

Complementary Studies

You will take the following three compulsory Complementary Studies modules alongside Management Studies: Engaging with Knowledge and Sciences, Reflecting Research Methods, and Connecting Science Responsibility and Society. You will learn about theories and methods from outside your field, exploring topics such as the philosophy and ethics of science and research.

Master's Dissertation

You spend the final semester working on your empirical Master's dissertation. Throughout the semester, the Master's Forum will help you develop your research question and methodology and is an opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions with fellow students and supervisors.
