Description
The Interdisciplinary Studies on Eastern Europe (ISEE) Master of Arts programme is a two-year programme featuring an interdisciplinary core module and courses in Slavic Studies, Eastern European History, Political Science, and Sociology.

Integrated internships
An internship in Eastern Europe or in an institution or company working with Eastern Europe can be undertaken as an alternative to project work in a module. The internship can be completed in the lecture-free period following the third semester and should last a minimum of four weeks (full time) or eight weeks (part time). The internship will be awarded with five credit points.

Academic admission requirements
A) BA degree (or an equivalent, officially recognised degree) related to the humanities or social sciences, with proven knowledge in the chosen major subject (20 CP) and one of the chosen minor subjects (10 CP) would be preferred. Applications with other BA degrees may also be under consideration.

English language skills
Advanced knowledge of English at a B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required for all subjects.
We accept the following as proof of language requirements:
- Language Certificate, level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or
- University-level test that attests to the B2 level completed within the past two years or
- UNIcert II certificate or
- TOEFL test IBT (Internet-based test) with at least 80 points or IELTS test with a score of at least 6 or
- Bachelor’s degree in an English-language programme or
- Other appropriate evidence of English skills at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
Other language skills
Very good knowledge of one Slavic language is required for the Major in Slavic Studies, of one Eastern European language for the Major in Eastern European History.

Funding opportunities within the institution
Financial aid for international students at JLU in the closing phase of their degree: A partial scholarship is possible for three to six months, amounting to 300 to 450 EUR per month (funding phase starting April or May every year).
