Description

The Würzburg Institute of Philosophy is a renowned research centre with international recognition, specialising in the following areas:

  • Theoretical Philosophy (Phenomenology: Kant, Husserl, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, etc.)
  • Practical Philosophy (Social Philosophy, Political Philosophy, Theory of Democracy, and Ethics)
  • History of Philosophy (Ancient, Arabic, and Medieval Philosophy in a global perspective)

Master's students with an interest in one of these fields are particularly welcome.

As a Master's student at Würzburg, you will have the freedom to choose from a variety of philosophy seminars in the programme. Each module, whether compulsory or elective, typically offers multiple seminars to choose from. You also have the flexibility to decide in which semester you want to take each module. Furthermore, there are three seminars taught in English out of the eight seminars offered each semester. We assist and encourage all students to reach level C1 language proficiency in both German and English as part of their studies.

You will benefit from excellent supervision: all professors regularly teach in the different Master's modules and greatly contribute to the personal atmosphere at our institute.
