This double degree Master's programme in "Marine Engineering" is a cooperation between Hochschule Wismar in Germany and “Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember” Surabaya (ITS) in Indonesia. Both universities have a superb international reputation and the highest standards in higher academic maritime education. By combining the strengths of both, the universities offer an outstanding programme for future executives in the field of marine engineering. The Master's programme is focused on the growing demand for maritime engineers in maritime hot spots like Indonesia, Asia and around the world.
The Master's programme is a consecutive study and has a duration of four semesters. Two semesters (first and third semester) will be held at ITS Surabaya in Indonesia and the second semester will be held at Hochschule Wismar in Rostock in Germany. In the final semester, students can choose to study either at ITS or at Hochschule Wismar.
As part of their studies, students will have developed in addition to technical skills also elementary intercultural competencies primarily between the European and Asian cultures. The graduates of the study programme in Marine Engineering receive the Master of Sciences degree (MSc) from Hochschule Wismar as well as the Indonesian degree from ITS Surabaya.

About us
Hochschule Wismar - University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design
The Hochschule Wismar – University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business, and Design is located in the Hanseatic town of Wismar in Northern Germany. Wismar is located next to the Baltic Sea. We are an “entrepreneurial university”, connecting scientific research work with practical life. The concept behind the university is: business needs technology and technology needs design.
The Department of Maritime Studies is part of the Faculty of Engineering of the Hochschule Wismar and is located in Rostock-Warnemünde next to Wismar. Maritime education at the Rostock-Warnemünde campus has a history rich in tradition. Since 1952, academic education has been offered on the Warnemünde campus, and since 1969, internationally recognised maritime education has also been offered.
Indonesia has developed into an important international partner for the Department of Maritime Studies through a large number of education, research, and development projects, which were successfully implemented in cooperation with Hochschule Wismar. The Department of Maritime Studies has been very active in Indonesia's education sector for many years and offers international degree courses in Marine Engineering (Bachelor's/Master's) and Nautical Sciences / Transport Operations (Bachelor's) in cooperation with the Indonesian partner institutions (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember [ITS] in Surabaya and Politeknik Maritim Negeri Indonesia [PoliMARIN] in Semarang).
Location
The Hanseatic town of Wismar lies on the Baltic Sea coast in the north-western corner of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Together with the Hanseatic town of Stralsund, the city of Wismar was certified by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2002. The seaport offers a good infrastructure. This means that accommodation is affordable, and there are shopping areas, red brick churches, and the university campus. Wismar not only has cosy cafés on offer but also a cinema, student pubs, water sports, and much, much more. It offers a maritime atmosphere that provides a pleasant and friendly space for creativity and the exchange of ideas. Furthermore, Wismar is located near the two biggest German cities of Hamburg and Berlin. Hamburg is about 120 km and Berlin is about 250 km from Wismar. The Baltic Sea region (Denmark / Sweden) is close and reachable by ferry via Rostock.
Wismar is, quite simply, the place where others come to spend their holidays. For more information, please see: http://www.wismar.de.
