Further details

Course organisation

Students in the international joint Master's degree programme acquire in-depth scientific knowledge, research skills and process and production expertise. They also improve their wine industry and entrepreneurial skills. They complete at least one semester each at BOKU Vienna or Hochschule Geisenheim University, and they attend selected courses at two research-intensive institutions. This enables them to sharpen their individual profile with a view to their future career. They also have the opportunity to gain further experience at international partner universities.

The programme focuses on risk management in viticulture, key physiological and biochemical processes in plant production and methods of cultivation management. The enological modules focus on technical, wine-chemical and microbiological processes in winemaking and how they can be influenced. Students also expand their technical and sensory knowledge in the area of international production processes for white and red wines. In the wine industry area, students deal with strategic wine management. They deepen their knowledge of the world's most important wine markets and their developments.
