Description
Our programme of study is research oriented. It offers our students advanced courses in all modern fields of pure and applied mathematics, including algebra, analysis, geometry, numerical analysis and scientific computing, mathematical optimisation, theoretical computer science, stochastics and financial mathematics. We guarantee individual teaching plans, intensive supervision and an excellent student–professor ratio. Additionally, our Master of Science programmes include “German as a Foreign Language” courses to improve the employment prospects of our international graduates in the German and international job markets.

Course organisation
The modules in the MSc Mathematics programme are taught in English. Students can freely choose among a wide variety of mathematics modules. A total of 120 ECTS credits have to be collected, according to the following subcategories:
- 18-51 ECTS credits in pure mathematics
- 18-51 ECTS credits in applied mathematics and stochastics
- 30 ECTS credits for the Master's thesis
- 21 ECTS credits in your minor subject and general key qualifications (ASQ)
International students who do not already have a minimum of an advanced level (A2 CEFR) of German are required to choose “German as a foreign language” as their minor subject. They can collect all 21 ECTS credits required for their minor subject by attending German classes.

Academic admission requirements
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or equivalent with results high above the international average.
Proficiency in at least one advanced programming language is required. You are not required to provide proof.
Language requirements
