Our voices

Looking back, I can say with complete certainty that choosing this programme marked a turning point in my career. It opened the doors to a successful professional path in Germany and gave me the tools I needed to excel in a highly competitive financial environment. After completing the programme, I proudly joined Adidas as part of the Corporate Funding team in the Treasury area. This role combines the experience I gained during my internship and the knowledge I acquired through the MBA.

Further details

Course organisation

The MBA Financial Management programme is divided into four semesters and consists of five pillars:

  • German Intensive Courses I and II
  • Application & transfer modules: Business Simulation and Internship & Placement Seminar
  • The Master's thesis

The programme has six base modules that cover mainstream topics of general management:

Five core modules form the specialisation in financial management:

International Economics, Corporate Finance, Financial Markets and Institutions, Treasury Management, Risk Management

Electives allow students to specialise in areas of particular interest and thereby to develop expertise with career ambitions in mind. In order to allow a special focus, students select four modules.

  • AI Applications in Finance

  • Crypto Currencies and Blockchain
  • Current Topics in International Finance
  • Digital Transformation & Innovative Finance
  • Econometrics

In the third semester, students complete a five-month internship at an index-listed company in Europe/Germany (member of Euro Stoxx, DAX30, M-DAX, S-DAX or TecDAX).

The application and transfer courses are as follows:

  • Management of Projects and Business Simulation

Having successfully participated in the requisite modules, you will be able to focus on your Master's thesis in the fourth semester. Integrated internships

An internship at a German company (no work permit required) is an integral part of the study programme and is scheduled for the third semester. During the internship, students have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and skills obtained in the programme as well as to become familiar with German business customs. The internship lasts 20 weeks. German students who have never studied or worked abroad are encouraged to do the internship abroad.

The programme has developed a large internship database, and substantial contact data will be provided upon request.

Internship Workshop

As part of our programme, each year we invite top companies such as BMW, Adidas and EY, along with leading banks, healthcare and insurance companies to give students the opportunity to complete their dream internship and gain insight into their internship opportunities. Students will learn how to craft their resumes and cover letters to highlight the specific skills and experience sought by the various companies. The workshop offers students the opportunity to connect with former employees of various financial services companies and gain mentorship.

By combining practical skills development with real industry knowledge, this workshop empowers our students to move confidently through their application process.

Location

The 41,000 residents of Coburg are proud of their city and their university. They take part in the cultural and social life of the city. Given Coburg's architectural and scenic beauty, the fact that it has the second highest density of industry in Europe is surprising. There is a large number of medium-sized engineering companies and automotive suppliers as well as a lively creative scene. Additionally, Germany's largest car insurer has its headquarters in Coburg. The future has already begun in Coburg. The professors and the students of Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts are a part of this accomplishment.

The city of Coburg is an ideal location for students who wish to combine quality of life with a high learning quality. Charming café-lined squares characterise the town centre. There are four castles in Coburg within a small radius. Visible from afar, the fortress proudly stands high above Coburg. Because of its dominant position, its size, and its historical significance, Veste Coburg is often referred to as "The crown of Franconia." The medieval complex in a unique park landscape is one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Germany. Ehrenburg Castle in Coburg's town centre is considered to have been an important place for German nobility. The dukes resided there for almost four centuries. In Callenberg Castle, you can see how the dukes of the 19th century lived. The British Queen Victoria, who was married to Coburg's Prince Albert, once said of Rosenau Castle, "If I were not who I am, I would have my real home here."
The cultural diversity of Coburg is a hallmark of the city. Students are offered a wide variety of recreational, sporting and cultural activities during their studies in Coburg. With its location in central Germany, major cities are easily reachable by train, bus or car.
