BSc in Applied Mathematics Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS)

All courses are held in English.

Graduates of the Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Mathematics have a sound understanding of core mathematical subjects as well as hands-on programming skills. Additionally, they gain insight into one of two possible areas of specialisation: business or engineering. Having the chance of spending a semester at one of our partner universities and of completing an internship in renowned companies, the profile of the degree programme offers outstanding career perspectives, e.g. in industry or engineering firms, with telecommunication and transport companies, with energy providers, or in the banking and insurance business.

Semesters One and Two: Basic subjects (e.g. Calculus, Linear Algebra, Computer Science, Economics or Physics)

Semesters Three and Four: Advanced subjects (e.g. Differential Equations, Probability Theory and Statistics, Data Science, Business Processes or Electrical Engineering)

Semester Five: Beginning of specialisation (e.g. Optimisation, Stochastic Processes, elective courses)

Semester Six: Internship with internship seminar

Semester Seven: Bachelor's thesis with Bachelor's seminar, elective courses

Graduates of the programme are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science (BSc).

An internship is to be completed during the sixth semester.

Every qualification must be checked individually, depending on the educational background of each student.

• Evidence of knowledge of English at level B2, e.g. valid TOEFL iBT® test result of at least 83 points (Internet-based), IELTS 6.0, etc.

• To ensure linguistic flexibility when communicating with other students and living in Germany, German language skills at level A2 are required. This must be proven by a corresponding certificate within 12 months after the start of the degree programme.

In order to finance your living expenses during your studies, you can look for a student job. However, please note that your focus should always be on your studies.

Students from non-EU countries may work 120 full days or 240 half days per year. If you work as a student assistant at a university or a company, the amount of days may be higher.

Students from EU countries: There are no restrictions.

About THWS
The Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) was established in 1971, with campuses in two locations in Würzburg and Schweinfurt.
