Course organisation

The duration of the Bachelor's degree programme is 42 months. The degree programme is divided into five-week blocks. There is an exam for each module in the fifth week. This ensures that competencies are acquired in a focused way. There are no semesters or trimesters (terms) as such. The programme contents are conveyed by means of lectures or project-based applications and include an integrated internship.

Courses in the first academic year include the following:

  • Mathematics and natural sciences I
  • Mathematics and natural sciences II
  • Basics: electrical engineering I
  • Basics: electrical engineering II
  • Basics: computer science
  • Basics innovation and economy
  • Analogue electronics
  • Electronics development

Courses in the second academic year include the following:

  • Production and project management
  • Sensors/actuators
  • Networking
  • Engineering design project
  • Business administration

Courses in the third year comprise: software engineering, embedded systems, systems theory, control engineering, information processing and transmission I + II,  electronic components or anatomy & device technology, electric drives or vital signalling and digital technology. 

The small student groups (maximum 30 students), the mentoring system, and the open-door policy as well as the renowned, experienced teaching staff guarantee special and very individual study conditions and attention. By diving deeper into your elective during your internship (24 ECTS), and Bachelor's thesis (12 ECTS), you will have the opportunity to specialise in your chosen field. With these requirements fulfilled, your elective will be recognised as a "specialisation" on your Bachelor's degree transcript.

During the selection process, your academic performance, professional experience and personal phone or video interviews will be taken into account.

Language requirements

English language proficiency IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 80 / Duolingo Certificate 120 / PTE Academics 58 or a comparable test

We may also personally interview applicants in order to test their English skills. If applicants have studied completely in English in their previous studies, we may waive the required test.

Funding opportunities within the institution

There is a special scholarship available. The "Deutschlandstipendium" is a special scholarship programme supported by the German government and private companies.

Possibility of finding part-time employment

Working as a non-EU citizen: In possession of a valid German residence permit for study purposes, you are allowed to work for up to 120 full days (full day = eight hours per day) or 240 half days (half day = four hours) during the calendar year. However, freelance work is not permitted. Internships that are mandatory for the successful completion of your studies at SRH do not count towards the above-named 120 full days.

Employment that is considered “student part-time work” ("studentische Nebentätigkeit", e.g. employment as a student worker at a university or in a university-related organisation or "Werkstudent" activities at companies that are related to your studies) can be done without any time restrictions.
