The modules in this Bachelor’s programme are offered in German or English. A module is never offered in both languages. Therefore, please bear in mind that:

• you may be restricted in your choice of modules if you prefer one language over the other
• you might have to take modules in your non-preferred language if other modules are already at capacity

Participation in the double degree programme also requires knowledge of French.

Whether economic globalisation, cross-border migration or ongoing climate change: complex problems of society not only call for comprehensive and effective solutions but must also be tackled within the framework of democratic structures and processes.

EU and non-EU applicants: 15 July for the following winter semester (study start: October)

It is only possible to apply within the application period, which is from mid-May to 15 July. Outside of this period, the degree programmes will not be visible in the application portal.

The Political Science major is embedded in the interdisciplinary College study model with Leuphana Semester, Minor and Complementary Studies. You will start your Bachelor's studies with the Leuphana Semester. The first semester at Leuphana College gives you the opportunity to deal fundamentally with science. The Minor deepens or supplements your Major with another subject area. In Complementary Studies, you will have the freedom to pursue your thirst for knowledge individually by immersing yourself in a different field of knowledge each semester.

You have the opportunity to do a double degree with the Université Paris-Est Créteil (optional) or to complete a semester abroad at one of our partner universities (optional).

No tuition fees

You do not have to pay tuition fees. You only have to pay a semester contribution of approx. 390 EUR per semester (subject to change). This will entitle you to receive a “semester ticket”, which covers public transport in Lüneburg and the surrounding area.

Approx 900 EUR per month to cover personal expenses in Lüneburg:

• Accommodation: 300 to 450 EUR
• Food: 200 to 230 EUR
• Health insurance: 110 EUR
• Leisure activities, books, clothing: 80 to 250 EUR

Proof of adequate financial resources is required for the visa application.

Admission requirements include the following:

• university entrance qualification
• sufficient knowledge of the English language

There are no mandatory language courses within the curriculum, but German language classes are offered throughout the semester, and an intensive German course is offered as part of the welcome and orientation programme.
