Description

Digitalisation promotes innovative solutions and economic growth, but it is also associated with risks relating to cybercrime. The Bachelor’s degree programme in Cyber Security and Business at HTW Berlin teaches you how to protect companies and organisations from digital threats. You will be taught IT security skills, economic methods for evaluating security measures and legal knowledge for complying with data protection standards. The language of instruction is English.

With its combination of IT security and business aspects, HTW Berlin offers a degree programme that is unique in Germany. The international focus of the programme and practical experience through a specialised internship in the fifth semester offer you a comprehensive education. HTW Berlin does not charge tuition fees. It only charges a semester fee.

  • Computer science fundamentals: general computer science, mathematics, programming
  • IT security: IT security, IT security in law and society, secure systems, network and system security, cryptology, IT security management project, emergency preparedness and emergency management, IoT security, social engineering
  • Data and systems: statistics, databases, cloud IT, web applications / software architecture, mobile devices, networks
  • Business and law: introduction to business administration, digital economy, IT law and data protection, norms, standards and certification
  • General competences: foreign languages, academic work

Specialisations

  • Forensics: forensics in operating systems, analysis methods for forensic data, forensics psychology, digital investigation, testing & hacking, current topics in forensics 
  • Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR): critical infrastructure protection, security operation (SOC), handling specific risks, testing & hacking, change management (IT & HR), current topics in CIKR
  • Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT): fundamentals of blockchain technology/DLT, project management, blockchain business development, blockchain security, change management (IT & HR), current topics in blockchain technology

Language requirements

To apply, you need English language skills at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). You will need one of the following supporting documents:

  • TOEFL test with at least 95 points for the internet-based test
  • IELTS test (academic) with a level of at least 7.0
  • TE Academic Test with at least 76 points
  • Comparable test

If you obtained your higher education entrance qualification in an English-speaking OECD country, proof of language proficiency is not required.
