Description

The Bachelor's BSc Industrial Engineering (IE) is an innovative study programme combining the fields of business, technology and IT.

Industrial engineers have a high flexibility, broad knowledge and universal applicability in companies which are the reason for a success story that has lasted for decades.

This degree course teaches the basic skills needed for the job in seven semesters. It offers two different specialisations that students can choose between the fourth and seventh semester:

  • Digital Production
  • Green Energy and Mobility

Industrial engineers work in numerous positions that are concerned with the optimisation of complex processes, systems or organisations by developing, improving and implementing integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information and equipment. With the combination of specialised knowledge and skills in the mathematical, engineering and business sciences, industrial engineers ensure the effective flow of processes, systems and operations.

Typical jobs and fields of employment are related to the design, development and optimisation of production and manufacturing processes, i.e. shop floor control or inventory management. Consulting and project management related occupations are also career opportunities. Other possibilities are logistics and supply chain management or quality management. Apart from administration and management related jobs, quite a few graduates decide to become self-employed and start their own businesses as entrepreneurs or engage themselves as intrapreneurs, pushing forward innovation and fostering business development.
