General information:
The Master's degree programme in Social and Cultural Anthropology aims to enable you to empirically document, analyse and understand cultural and social peculiarities and interrelationships of (non-) European cultures.

The Master's degree programme in Social and Cultural Anthropology has a research-oriented profile with particular emphasis on independent scientific work.

Research focuses:
Regional specialisations in Latin America (Amazonia) as well as thematic specialisations in the field of conflict anthropology, the anthropology of nature as well as visual and material culture are possible.

The degree course also offers you a high degree of interdisciplinarity and a strong contemporary relevance through good cooperation with the university’s other research institutions such as the Centres for Conflict Research, Gender Studies or Interdisciplinary Religious Research. With a large selection of minor subjects (e.g. Psychology, Geography, International Development Studies, Law, Peace and Conflict Research, Sociology, Indology/Tibetology, Gender Studies) and the high degree of flexibility of the degree programme, you can design your degree course according to your individual interests.
