Annotation
The course provides thorough knowledge and skills in the field of physics, which enable the students to independently familiarise themselves with the diverse tasks of application-, research- and teaching-related fields of activity of later professional life. Physics is taught as an experiential science based on experimentation, in which theoretical modelling plays an outstanding role. The interplay between theory and experiment is also and above all visible in the university's research areas of "Semiconductor Physics and Quantum Phenomena" and "Self-Organisation and Complexity". Students should not only be able to competently follow and assess the content and methodological development of the subject area, but should also be able to independently apply physical methods and ways of thinking and working procedures in other areas and new fields of application. In addition to analytical methods, students therefore also learn synthetic and interdisciplinary thinking.
