The Teaching Qualification for Primary Schools with the teaching subject of Islamic Religion is a course with a predefined combination of subjects. German and Mathematics are also compulsory subjects. The degree course prepares students for teaching in primary schools (classes 1-4)\; Qualification to teach classes 1-6 is acquired in the teaching subjects.

The federal state government has set the preconditions for a denominational Islamic religious education at schools in the federal state. People who want to teach Islamic Religious Studies require (as with other denominations) a teaching qualification for Religious Studies that entitles them to teach the denominational subject.

The two organisations DITIB Landesverband Hessen and Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland e.V. are recognised as cooperation partners. They are responsible for awarding graduates on the undergraduate course with the teaching qualification.

The admissions requirements for the teacher training degree programmes with the academic degree 'First State Examination' is the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or previous education recognised as equivalent (NOT the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification).
