The University Mainz offers the Bachelor's degree course starting in the fifth subject-related semester or the Master of Education exclusively for Teaching Qualification (Grammar Schools).
The teaching qualification subject History can only be studied in combination with the subject French/Lettres modernes in the German-French degree course. (see also https://www.studium.uni-mainz.de/internationale-masterstudiengaenge/). It is recommended to commence studies in the winter semester.

Admission requirements

Sufficient command of two foreign languages is required: English
and Latin (Latinum or complementary state examination) or (as an alternative to Latin)
a Romance or Slavic language. Proficiency in the modern
Romance or Slavic languages are assessed by a language test
that must be passed by the end of the fifth semester. In the
Master's degree course for the Teaching Qualification for grammar school level, sufficient command of Latin (Latinum or complementary state examination) is required (for additional requirements, see examination regulations at www.uni-mainz.de/studlehr/ordnungen). The teaching qualification subject History/Histoire can only be studied in combination with the subject French/Lettres modernes in the German-French degree course.
