Annotation

The four-semester Master's degree course in Urban and Spatial Planning_Positions builds consecutively on the Bachelor's degree course in Urban and Spatial Planning_Fundamentals and leads to a second professionally qualifying academic degree, which also entitles you to membership in an Chamber of Architects (Urban Planner List) and to use the title of "Urban Planner". The degree programme is designed to meet the current requirements of the labour market for planners and deals in depth with the various topics of urban and regional planning; the focus of the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt is mainly on sustainable planning and construction as well as land use and resource management.

Project Work
Study projects on current issues in planning are carried out in the first two semesters. The study projects are organised as group work in an effort to professionalise team-oriented work and goal-oriented communication. Through cooperation with practitioner partners and usually public presentation of results, the study projects form an important link to professional practice.

Expertise can be selected from the following areas:
 - Urban Development Policy and Housing
 - Rural Development Planning and Regional Management
 - Planning Theory and Concepts
 - Living Environments and Urban Society
 - Urban Models and Urban Strategies
 - Open-Space Development and Open-Space Policy
 - Urban Development in the International Context
 - Economics of Housing and Real Estate
 - Positions in Planning
 - Environment and Media

The off-campus module opens up "stepping stones" into professional life with three options, e.g. through practical contacts, research experience or international networking: either (1) a semester abroad, (2) a professional internship at home or abroad or (3) a self-organised study and research stay "on site" in rural areas or in an urban setting with local cooperation partners.
