It provides you with sound knowledge of the diverse historical and current landscape of Central and Eastern Europe. In a unique way, it combines a regional focus with cultural studies, history, literary studies and social sciences as well as Jewish studies and German studies.

Admission requirements

The Master´s degree programme in Central and East European Studies requires a first professionally qualifying certificate of academic degree worth at least 180 ECTS credits, in which applicants have demonstrated relevant study and examination achievements worth at least 30 ECTS credits in subjects related to Central or Eastern Europe (e.g. in the subjects of Slavic Studies, Medieval and Modern History, German Studies and Jewish Studies related to Eastern Europe, Social Sciences and Cultural Studies related to Central and Eastern Europe). All students are required to have English language proficiency at level B2 as well as a command of Polish, Ukrainian, Russian or another Central and/or Eastern European language at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
