Why study Industrial Artificial Intelligence IAI?
The teaching language of the Industrial Artificial Intelligence degree programme is English.
IAI is for people who are interested in all aspects of artificial intelligence and want to play an active role in shaping the topic of artificial intelligence. You will effectively link the relevant industrial business areas with artificial intelligence, recognise efficiency potential and implement your findings in practical projects with companies. Learning by doing will lead you to success in this project-oriented degree programme.
AI technology is changing the world of work: ‘By 2030, around 30% of current working hours could be automated by technology, including generative AI’ (McKinsey Global Institute, 2025). All areas of companies will be affected, including production, logistics or supply chain, planning, purchasing, manufacturing or assembly and many more.
The degree opens up excellent career opportunities in the industry, as experts in artificial intelligence are sought-after graduates in a rapidly growing market for artificial intelligence: according to Statista (2024), the market volume will increase from USD 96 billion in 2021 to an estimated USD 1.848 billion in 2030.

What does the IAI Master’s programme look like?

The programme combines theory and practice within the framework of projects. Learning by doing is at the centre of the course. Different specialisations are taught in each semester:
- The Industrial Operation and Transformation specialisation deals with the relevant AI application areas and the associated, marketable AI tools that shape everyday practice
- The Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering specialisation provides in-depth knowledge that enables you to independently develop and refine AI tools and thus make an important contribution beyond the practical application of tools.

You will acquire comprehensive knowledge in AI-oriented Python programming, machine and deep learning as well as generative AI. You will also expand your knowledge of big data, data science and data engineering. This knowledge is supplemented by practical knowledge of application software packages from well-known manufacturers (e.g. Microsoft, SAP, Siemens, AWS), which deal with topics such as ERP systems, cloud computing, robotic process automation, business intelligence and analytics.

Your future: What can you achieve with your degree?

With your degree, you will have a wide range of career opportunities, some of which we cannot even fully assess today. In addition to the traditional areas of employment / job offers, there are also new areas of employment for IAI Master’s graduates that are being created by AI in companies.

These include the following jobs:
- AI engineer – These are responsible for integrating artificial intelligence into existing industrial systems or developing it for these systems themselves.
- AI consultant – They carry out analyses and develop concepts for the introduction of AI technology and its application to increase costs and efficiency in industrial business areas.
- AI business developer – Develops and implements AI/ML models and solutions for specific business challenges.
- AI product manager – A specialist to oversee, create and manage products that utilise AI technologies.
