Annotation

The degree course teaches extensive knowledge of the cultures of Antiquity and their reception. It has an interdisciplinary orientation and is jointly designed by the departments of Ancient History, Archaeology and Literature, Art and Media Studies (with a focus on Latin/Ancient Greek). A particular feature is the combination of various historical sources (literary texts, material legacies) and their reception over the centuries. The term "antiquity" is widely understood and also includes the Ancient Orient. The degree course enables students to consider the interactions within the ancient world, such as between Greece and the Orient, between Rome and Greece or the development of Christianity, as well as to examine the ancient influences on later "renaissances" from the Middle Ages to the present day. The subject can be studied as a major or minor. If one of the subjects has admissions restrictions, the application deadline is 15 July. For information about the minor, please refer to our website. An introduction to the degree course will be provided at the study days in March (www.uni.kn/studientage) or at the online study information day in mid-November (www.uni.kn/online-studieninformationstag).
