The Teaching Qualification for Lower Secondary Schools and Intermediate Secondary Schools is the university component of teacher training and concludes with the First State Examination. The degree course prepares students to teach grades 5–10 at lower secondary schools, intermediate secondary schools and comprehensive schools. Students acquire the academic fundamentals for their professional role and are motivated and equipped to organise independent lifelong learning.

Admission requirements

The admissions requirements for the teacher training degree programmes with the academic degree 'First State Examination' is the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or previous education recognised as equivalent (NOT the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification).

Applicants must pass an aptitude test before being enrolled for the teaching subject of Music. More information on this (registration deadlines, etc.) can be found at www.uni-giessen.de/studium/eignungspruefung
