The following subject combinations are provided:
- Learning Area I: linguistic foundation (mandatory)
- Learning Area II: mathematical foundation (mandatory)
- Learning area III or teaching subject (optional).

Aesthetic Education can be studied as learning area III.
The learning areas Aesthetic Education, Basic Education in Mathematics, Natural and Social Sciences, as well as the learning area Basic Education in Language together with the teaching subject English are subject to local admission restrictions at the University of Cologne.
Proof of successful completion of the aptitude test must be submitted upon enrolment for Art, Music and Sport (Sports University of Cologne).
