This study course, which is unique in Germany, combines social work and generall human scientific knowledge and competences with those of theological, missionary and intercultural. By interlinking the modules of social work over the entire study period with modules of Protestant Theology, Mission Studies, Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology and intercultural issues, a fruitful cooperation of perspectives arises. A compulsory, six-month, internally supervised practical semester in social work at home or abroad, as well as the opportunity to spend a semester abroad are integrated into the study program. Structure of the program: A two-year foundation course teaches the basics of Social Work and Theology. In addition to compulsory modules, including Ethics, Sociology, Economics and Life and Social Counseling, the two-year main course includes the opportunity to choose from a wide range of elective and elective modules according to interests and professional goals. Furthermore, in the main course, a national or international focus is chosen. A special focus during the main course is on Intercultural Theology or Mission Theology. In the 5th or 6th semester, the program offers the opportunity to study abroad, for example at an international partner university of the IHL. Also the professionally supervised practical semester in social work at home or abroad takes place in one of these two study semesters.
