Description

Applied Informatics will give you a deep understanding of computer sciences principles. You will be introduced to the key areas of informatics, such as software engineering and data science.

In your first year, you study the fundamentals of informatics and mathematics and further the basic foundations in physics and chemistry needed in the life sciences. At the end of your first year, you will choose a life science profile and specialise in a particular area, such as food or brewing technology, sustainable engineering or molecular biology.

You will learn how to analyse and optimise life science processes with the help of software. This can involve technical processes such as the production of antibiotics or the brewing of tasty beer. Or you can analyse natural processes in the field of bioinformatics.

You will learn about problem-solving, programming design and implementation. You will learn how to develop software, to work together in interdisciplinary teams and to apply your knowledge in different application areas.

Applied Informatics includes a lot of practical courses and lectures, with a good balance between them. We focus on the application areas in the life sciences and value practice-oriented teaching.

Applied Informatics is suitable for everybody who wants to explore the fascinating digital world, explore the high potential of informatics applied in the various areas of life sciences. Study with us and be challenged and supported to achieve great things in a quickly-changing environment.
