Description of other international elements
During their first study year, students take mandatory language classes. Besides English, classes in German, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, and Dutch are offered. If students are ready to travel to Sankt Augustin Campus, they can enrol in language classes in non-European languages. Further language training is available as elective courses, including training in academic writing. International students receive support from the International Office, study buddies, and the department's "Team International." Intercultural training is provided by teachers from the language centre. As the department has a number of partner universities, lecturers from abroad frequently visit the campus to deliver lectures or scientific talks.
Integrated/optional study abroad unit(s) outside Germany
A mobility window is incorporated into the study programme during the third year, and the department's "Team International," along with the International Office, supports students in finding the exchange programme that best aligns with their interests.
Integrated internships
During the sixth semester, students embark on a three-month practical training in a research group either on campus or at universities or research institutes outside of Rheinbach. It is also possible to do the internship abroad at one of the partner universities.

About us
Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg
The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS), was founded in 1995. It is a dynamic and research-oriented university with approximately 8,000 students, 150 professors, and 260 research associates. They are supplemented by around 400 highly qualified lecturers from academia, business, and industry. An additional 200 employees work in administration, the library, and the language centre. The university campuses are located in Hennef, Rheinbach, and Sankt Augustin. In Bonn, the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg operates the B-IT Universities Institute of the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology in collaboration with Bonn University and Aachen Technical University (RWTH).
At Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, first-class teaching is intertwined with internationally successful research projects. Teaching and research are closely integrated in all of our courses. In this way, students not only profit from the knowledge and expertise of our professors and their various research projects but also have the opportunity to actively participate in them. H-BRS has official partnership agreements with over 80 universities worldwide.
Location
The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg region is a dynamic and internationally oriented hub for science, research, industry, trade, and service industries. Sankt Augustin is located on the outskirts of the city of Bonn, and it has the character of a suburb of a major international city. With its 320,000 inhabitants, Bonn boasts extensive cultural offerings and consistently ranks among the top ten cities in Germany in terms of quality of life.
The region has an international background due to Bonn's former status as the capital of West Germany. Thanks to its excellent infrastructure, the city has become a centre for international cooperation. Numerous UN and non-governmental organisations have settled in this cosmopolitan city on the Rhine. Bonn's economic and scientific institutions are also well known worldwide.
Additionally, the surrounding area of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg offers a beautiful countryside, an interesting range of cultural activities, and diverse leisure amenities, ensuring a high quality of life. For these reasons, it attracts millions of visitors annually. Visitors explore Beethoven's birthplace, attend theatre performances featuring works by contemporary European dramatists at the Bonn Biennial, and enjoy the concerts at the Beethoven Festival.
The delightful landscape of the Seven Hills, with Dragon's Rock overlooking the romantic Rhine, has been a favourite with travellers since the 19th century. Hikers and cyclists will find a wealth of places to visit in the Eifel foothills.
The campuses are only a few minutes' walk from a suburban rail link or high-speed tram, offering fast and direct service to Bonn. The university's proximity to railways and motorways means that cities like Cologne and Düsseldorf are only a stone's throw away. Brussels is an hour and a half away from Cologne by train, while Paris and Amsterdam can be reached in less than four hours. The Cologne-Bonn airport connects the region to the whole world.
